50th years of Vijya Diwas of Bangladesh

 


Vijay Diwaws of Indian Army is celebrated on 16th December each year, This celebration is in memory of 1971 of Vijay, the victory of the liberation of erstwhile East Pakistan, a new state Bangladesh was formed. The HQ Eastern Command organised a program at Princep Ghat at the riverside of Ganga, Musical soiree. It is a Military Band display for the civilians and Armed Forces personnel. Military Tatoo, the Army display at Race Course Kolkata, aerobatic, para jumping, tent pegging, Dog show, Dispatch Riders display, Army Band display all this for 3 to4 hours.

Cultural event at the Eastern Command Stadium by the Army personnel and civilian artist took part in this show. A memorial program is held at the Command Vijya Smark. The delegates from Bangladesh Armed Forces join in this event. The wreath-laying ceremony is held on 16th December. In the past, the Bangladesh Government presented mementos and certificates to Indian Armed Forces personnel to recognise their service at this war.

A social evening is generally arranged at the Army Officers Institute with the War veterans of Bangladesh and India.

To mark the 50th year of Vijay Diwas a program was organised at the Racecourse. The display of Equipment, Arms, and Ammunition was displayed.

 

A four days program was held at Rabindra Sadan and Nadan from 26th September 2021, the multi-mode presentation of the events of 1971 by staging drama with the help of audiovisual. The characters are from Pakistan and India including the Armed Forces of both countries.

 

Some visuals were displayed in this area. The visitors were taken to Fort William and back by exclusive transport. They had a chance to visit Vijya Smark.

Border: A story of Indian Army’s Punjab Regiment fighting with Pakistan Army who were advancing to India. They were stopped by an Infantry Company strength, the heroic battle was depicted in the desert of Rajasthan. The great leadership by the Company Commander to his soldiers was displayed. This fight was during the night time and no air support was available before the next first light.
