The audio visual has been produced by Ranu Ghosh of Kolkata, India, recently it was projected at Max Muller Bhawan, Kolkata with an open discussion with audience.

The AV was on construction of the first tallest multi complex at south Kolkata. Certain questions have been raised such as acquisation of land, sanction of plan, eviction of occupants on this land. Wheather any justice has been observed?

Who will answer such question? There are always allegation which are not addressed by the competent authority that generate angusih among the common people.

Eye donation pledge and reality in West Bengal, India

I received a bad news early morning of 16th July 2018, One of our relative expired at South Kolkata. I was knowing the person and his family wants to donate eye. I do have a eye pledge card with me. The telephone no of Regional Institute of Optholmology of Kolkata to be operating by 24x7 by any staff. It was not functional.

I approached the HQ Kolkata Police, they took initative and inform me telephone number of the alternative arrangement from a private authorise collector. It worked and eyes have been collected.

Is there any system to informthe donor family regarding transplnet of cornea.

Do you think the donation to be highlighted in donor death certificate. It will create a great sense of recognisation may be at the Regional level.

This points have been sent to the following officials for appropriate action by Sushanta Kumar De,Secretary, The Young Explorers' Instittue for Social Service, Kolkata on

An representive of a civil society called in 2012 to the office of the Regional Institute  OF OPHTHALMOLOGY, MEDICAL COLLEGE HOSPITAL,KOLKATA-73 to collect the form to collect the pledge from the citizens of Kolkata, India. On written request few forms were received with an verbal advise to get the xerox copies for further requirement. This office is operating 7x24 for Eye collection for the State of West Bengal, India. One land line is identified for this purpose. It may be difficult to communicate to the person on duty such as where is the dead body for collecting the eyes. This could be better at that time to convey the message to the staff on duty, may be odd hours of the day and night.or a system through which SMS may be a better option in this context. The matter was brought to the notice of Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. We append below the contents for your comments if any.

Territorial Army of India

Territorial Army of Kolkata
It was 1990, we were deployed somewhere in the western sector of our country. I had joined from my bank’s job. We were Territorial Army (TA) personnel from Kolkata, our unit is affiliated to Garwhal Regiment of Indian Army. In Kolkata, there are 2 Infantry TA battalions and 1 General Hospital (TA).
We used to assemble on Sundays and annual camp for training at the unit located at the southern part of Kolkata. Our employer had released us for military service. We switched over from civilian to TA personnel, some of us performing section commander, platoon commander, company commander & other appointments. There are regular service personnel also in our unit.
We had the various task to perform some time ground defence of airport, ordnance depot, ammunition depot, vital establishments e.t.c.
Our rank structure is same like Indian army, the food for jawans, non commissioned officers, junior commissioned officer and officers are prepared in their respective kitchen some time we had ‘barakhan’ a great feast for all. Some recreation programme makes more attractive. Our unit has an orchestra group they were very popular even for the civil function at the outside.
Like Indian army TA also famous for ceremonial and social activities like TA day (9th Oct), Raising day (15th March), Dushera festival e.t.c. The family members and ex TA personnel join in these days to remember their old days.
Now TA is engaged in the various assignment, mainly internal security. They are performing continuous military service and earning their pension from the Ministry of Defence.
